Before in the U.S, almost every Saturday, I go to the church .
On April 25th, I went by myself to the Church on LAi Feng Lu. It is a relative of the church which I went to in the U.S.Knowing that this was a friendly church,I went in. However, there are some differences between this church and the one in the U.S.
The first difference was that in the church of the U.S, most of the people were childern young people or middle aged people.There were only a group of old people.However here in the church of China, almost all of the people were elder people and you could rarely see someone my age which is seventeen.Probably it is because people in China are always busy with their jobs and students like me in China are required to learn a lot of things . Also, students usually have classes for the whole day on Saturday.
The next difference I noticed was that their lessons are shorter than the ones in the U.S,only one and a half hours for one block.
I enjoyed this experience very much because it made me feel very familiar with these people as if I were really back in the Church of the U.S again.

volunteer work#2
From April 17th to the 19th , I went to the community service to do volunteer work by cleaning the garbage and loose paper in our community...
From doing this, I learned quite a lot of things..The first thing I learned was that I noticed that a number of people left their garbage around carelessly after chatting or taking a walk in the community park.Leaving garbage behind them does not happen to be anything to care in their minde because they think that the people who clean up for the community will pick up their left garbage instantly so they do not worry at all.The next thing I learned was that the other people cleaning up for the community paid much attention to all the details of cleaning.They did all the work neatly and carefully...All of a sudden, I finally noticed how selfish we were in our lives,throwing our garbage around then letting other people clean up behind us..The cleaness of our community is not kept by us who use it but by other people ...
After this process, I noticed that I was not responsible enough for my actions in the past. I have left garbage lying around in the past but at that time I did not pay any attention to it nor did I think it was of any importance to me.I also thought it was their job to keep the community clean as they were paid for doing it but now I noticed it was a wrong way of seeing this. They were paid, that was true..But they were not paid to be extra careful about what they do.For them, this is not only a job but also a kind of responsibility.
In order to work well with other people , we can not be too shy . Sometimes, we need to be extrovert enough to get on well with other people that work at the same place that you do.Also, you should be able to have a heart that can accept other peoples' suggestions.
Although this work was not interesting at all and sometimes it was very hard for me to pick up the tissues by hand . I still completed this job and I am really proud of myself~.

Going to a performance.
On April 27th,2009,I went to the fashion show that was being held in Grand Canadian Academy..
I went to the Fashion show with Annie and Ada from my class,10-A.We went out of the school for dinner first and came back at 5:50 p.m. The Fashion Show started at 6:00 p.m..First people on the stage were the people wearing causual clothes, next, a lot of the teachers came on to the stage.Ms.Bartell and Ms.Hadley had flowers in their hair..it seemed pretty strange though.. Mr.Harris was wearing a big suit and he had sunglasses on..I thought that the most interesting one was Mr.Shapour's Astronomer Suit... On the back of it were the words"GCA"standing for our school..Probably we are going to take space explore classes next year~(just kidding)..
I chose to go to this fashion show because it was just there in our school , all we needed was to buy a ticket for ourselves..We woulden't have to travel very far to go to a performance, it's really convinent for us students. The ticket price is also very cheap ,only 15 RMB per. person~ isn't that a better deal than going out to a far away performance that would probably cost you 100RMB..?
The fashion show was quite interesting,but,to be honest, I thought it could be better...The show only lasted about an hour and the people that were not models didn't get any chance to participiate in it at all which was quite disappointing..I hope I can participiate in it not only as a model , but as a person who is having fun in the party ...
Therefore,I am still looking foward to going to fashion show next year . I hope it will become better and better~!

eating in an korean restaurant
March3rd was my brothers birthday,so we went to have dinner in a restaurant.Since I needed to do my portforlio,we went to have dinner in an korean restaurant.
The waiters and waitresses there were very friendly and they would inform you what kinds of special things are on the menu today.I forgot to mention that the restaurant was at Xin Jie Kou.It was a new restaurant but the food there was really food.We ordered BBQmeat that had pork,beef and lamb meat in it.There were also many kinds of vegetables for us to barbeque such as mushrooms,lettuce,spinach,cucumbers,carrots and corn.
There was also many types of fish.Some from fresh water,some from the ocean.The drinks there were also very good.You could order fruit drinks freshly made there was also this type of vegetable juice was tasted quite odd but it wasn't very good.....I didn't drink much of that...
At last we took out the birthday cake which we brought with us to celebrate my brother's birthday..He was really excited and wanted to blow out the candles at once.
It was a really happy experience eating in this restaurant and my brother was really happy.

club activity
This term,I joined in two clubs,one is the game bar club and the other one is Mr.Shapour's chess club.I can learn a lot in both clubs....I can learn how to share my ways to play games with other players in both chess and video games.
First,the game bar club.As I really like to play games and watch cartoons,this is my favorite club indeed.It is on every Friday afternoon after school until five ~ six o'clock.During this time,we can either play video games or chat with other group members about our strgaty in playing games.It is a very fun thing to do.All the members in this club are very willing to help others if others have problems playing a game well.
Next is the chess club.I am not a good player in chess as I have not played it for long.However,I can get lots of help from experienced club members and other players.There are lots of things that i cannot see on the chess board and there are so many things that I do not know about chess,By attending this club,I can learn and play at the same time and gain experience.
In the third term, I continued to attend the game bar...It is a very friendly , lovely and interesting place where everyone can get a chance to denmonstrate their game skills and what they know about different games.Here,we can make lots of friends... it makes us more extrovert, and we can get better on how to communicate with others.

P.E activity hours
During the winter holidays,I did some P.E exercises,most of them were playing badminton and climbing the purple mountains...
January 29th.
Today,I played badminton with my friends and classmates from junior school.As we have not met for a long time, we missed each other very much.While we were playing badminton,we reminded each other of what interesting things happened during last term which we were not together in the same classroom for the first time.My best friend rebecca was still an expert at badminton,most of us hardly ever beat her.We chatted and played for more than four hours.
January 31st
Today,my parents and I went to climb the purple mountain .It is a very famous mountain in Nanjing which lots of visitors love to go to.The view at the top of the mountain was great and the air was really fresh.We could see very far ,over the top of big buildings even if it is not tall enough to reach the clouds.The journey to the top was very exhausting,wo had to climb up,step by step..By the time we were at the top,we just wanted to sit down and have a rest .Though it was a cold day,we were sweating heavily...We climbed and played for five hours.

volunteer hours
Today,I have finished my ten hours of volunteer.Iworked at Pro Built MachineryCORP.
Through working at this international trading machinery CORP. ,I learned a lot of things such as how to write invoice make different graphs.
My first day at this company was doing basic work.I typed the invoice for the manager and made calls to different trading companies for further information on their products such as the price and size pf the products.It was not easy at first especially talking and working with a lot of people I do not know.Also,I had to work as an adult which seemed to be very challanging to me.
More than that,the other comnpanies that I called seemed to wonder why a "child"was making phone calls to them to ask information about their products.I had to explain again and again and I was fustrated .
My second day was much smoother.I was not as nervous as the first day there and finished my work more effciently.I did not have to make so many phone calls and copy down so many prices and details which I was relived of.The manager was quite content with my work and agrees to sign my certificate for me.
Through working at a new place,I learned how to be patient,how to be brave,how to get on with others and finish my task on time.It was a challange and also was much fun because I had never worked at a company before and this was my first time to do so.

eating dinner in a western restaurant
Some time ago, we went to have dinner with the grade twelve students to eat in an Itilian restaurant. As it was a cold day we felt very cozy there.Let's first talk of our journey there....
We went there by bus ,to be specific,it was the NO.48 bus,because it was heading towards Xin Jie Kou,there were so many people on the bus so taht we were "glued"onto the windows of the bus...The journey seemed ages to me for it was so uncomfortable and due to too many people, it was so hot...
When we arrived at the restaurant,we sat down with the grade twelves in the back of the restaurant where there is a lot of big tables,enough for us to all sit down . Then the waiteress gave us the menus.There was Itilian Spegittie,soup,pizza,beef,roast steak and a lot of drinks.I ordered a plate of tomatoe spegettie along with some watermelon juice.
After we finished ordering the food that we wanted, we started to take photos of ourselves,the restaurant, our classmates and the grade twelves.After the food came,we took turns taking pictures of what we ordered and took pictures together when we were drinking our watermelon juice.
In the end ,we were really happy with this experience of going out to have dinner together with our classmates,We laughed,made jokes together and chatted through the whole time.

Nanjing university art exhibition
A couple of weeks ago,we went to Nanjing University to see an exhibition called:"Wu Wei Shan Cutural Figures Sculpture Gallery". This exhibition mainly showed artwork made by Wu Wei Shan.The artwork are mainly traditional sculptures of famous artists,writers and famous people of the past.
The artwork that I found intesesting was a sculpture of a famous person in the past called "Lao Zi".It was made by Wu Wei Shan in the year 2005. The biggest copy of this artwork is in Jiang Su,Huainan.There is also a famous book called "Dao De Jing"carved inside of the sculpture.The sculptue is empty inside and is big enough for a person to stand inside.All the words carved inside Lao Zi are ancient Chinese words.
This artwork makes me feel very calm.It makes me think of many things such as how we should treat others,how the world is,how we should get along with others and, also what our society is like.This artwork reminds me of a story I learned in grade 7 .It is a story telling people how to forgive others when other people do something wrong.
There is an old Chinese way of saying"the chest of a man is wider than the sky and is deeper than the oceans" meaning that this person is very kind and generous.I think the artist's intention is to represent the characteristics of the famous Chinese person,Lao Zi.Also,byshowing his expression,tells us what kind of person he is.
I like this artwork.Although it is not very neatly done,it can express the feeling of a person.Also, carving the famous book of "Dao De Jing"inside the sculpture is a very creative way
of making artwork.By seeing this, it makes me feel that the wise person is standing right in front of me to teach me something that he thinks is important.
In fact, I think a lot of other people will appreciate the artwork,especially Chinese people because Lao Zi is a hero in many Chinese people's hearts.He has almost become a symbol of philosophy, next to Kong Zi, another famous person in ancient China.
