Guest Artist

A famous artist visited all of the grade ten students on Monday December the 1st.His name was Zhao Bing who graduated from Nanjing University Art Department.He is an expert on garden designing.His speech was mainly about the gardens in Su Zhou,China.
First,he talked about the composition of the gardens in Su Zhou.It came from the ancient
Chinese word for circle(圆) The biggest square around the word stand for walls. The square inside stand for the waters in the garden and the things under the square stand for trees and flowers.
Next,he talked about the main types of gardens in China.The first type is for emperors.The second one is gardens designed for certain families of their own.The third kind is used for religious activites.Finally,the last one is for people to visit and enjoy themselves.
Then, he talked about the history of gardens in China .It started long ago in the Song dinasty.
Chinese people in the past usually thought that when two things are symmetrical,they usually looked better.However,some parts of the Su Zhou garden are not symmetrical,in fact,they are very different in size shape etc.
Unfortunely,he did not finish his speech due to there was not enough time for him to finish talking about the history.The pictures he had of the gardens were very interesting and worth having a look at.To me,it was not very entertaining...To be honest,it seemed quite boring to me because I have no interest in making gardens nice looking or beautiful.However,I still learned a few things...After all,I have to make notes on what he says~..I learned that garden arts in China have existed for a long time and are unique to the western way of gardening .
In conclusion,the arts of how the gardens in China were made were very complicated.Su Zhou garden is famous not only for the lovely garden environment,but also for the unique style of designing it . So,if I visit Su Zhou,I will surely pay a visit to enjoy the gardens there.
